An ERP is sold as one system and usually lived in as three: the part that was configured at go-live, the part that was licensed and never switched on, and the spreadsheets that grew up in between. The close runs late because reconciliations happen outside the ledger. Procurement approvals travel by email because the workflow was never set up.
